Amazingly, St. Anne Guild was started in May of 1919. We are celebrating this auspicious occasion by welcoming new members into the Guild.
For 100 years, St. Anne’s has been quietly going about its business of caring for St. Mary Parish. Many of you remember Joe Caouette, a pillar of our community for so long who passed during the Christmas Season, he often referred to St. Anne’s Guild as the “secret weapon” of St. Mary Parish because we have been there through thick and thin. Interestingly, his mother, Ida was one of the founding members of St. Anne’s Guild back in 1919.
This dedicated group of parishioners work tirelessly to support and care for St. Mary Church through fundraisers and service projects. Most recently, St. Anne’s contributed $12,000 for the restoration of the Church Bells that ring 3x each day to announce our faith and presence in our community. St. Anne’s also totally supports the Religious Education program here at St. Mary Church so that each and every child has the opportunity to receive their sacraments and grow in their faith without financial constraints. St. Anne’s Guild also financed the beautiful Crèche scene that we all enjoy so much during the Christmas season.
These are just a few of the most recent projects but over the years the Church’s needs such as new oil tanks, new roofing, Parish house remodeling, electrical work, repairs and many, many other things have happened because of St. Anne’s Guild.
These projects are possible through the fundraising activities sponsored by St. Anne’s Guild. Our biggest fundraiser each year is the Annual Holiday Fair. This project is so successful both in part to the hard work of the Guild and the generosity of all of you.
In addition to financial support, St. Anne’s has many service projects such as supplying birthday bags to the Food Pantry, sponsoring monthly Linger Longer Coffee Hours, decorating the Church for holiday seasons and providing Hospitality for Parish-wide activities such as Confirmation and Cantatas.
Our community is also important to us. We sponsor children for Camp Rolly each year, donate to the Police Association and other worthy charities.
While the members of St. Anne’s work hard, we also make time to enjoy ourselves through several different activities. Each year we have Tea Parties, Christmas Gatherings and Chowder Nights to help build camaraderie and have a little fun. We would like to invite those interested in learning more about St. Anne’s to attend our Annual Chowder Night on March 12th. This event is held across the street at the Parish house and begins at 6:30.
We invite you to also check out our Facebook page. Just search for St. Anne’s Guild of St. Mary Parish for access to some additional information and see many of our activities. The members of St. Anne’s Guild would like to express our sincerest appreciation for all of your support throughout the years and hope that you will join us as we continue to care for St. Mary Parish for the next 100 years.
