The Caring for the Caregiver Ministry was born from a simple but profound response to God’s call: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” Like Samuel, a parishioner felt a gentle tug from the Holy Spirit — a desire to create a place where caregivers could pray, share, and walk together. With Fr. Andrew’s encouragement and months of prayerful discernment, that call became a ministry.Led by Gail West, a St. Mary parishioner who cared lovingly for her husband, the ministry offers a compassionate space shaped by lived experience. Gail is supported by Al Landry and Jan Kirk, whose backgrounds as a caregiver and hospice nurse help create a safe, confidential, and deeply supportive environment. This ministry is for anyone who cares for a loved one — a child, young adult, or elder — whether sick, disabled, or frail. Caregiving can be beautiful and exhausting, joyful and heavy. No one is meant to carry it alone.
